#reflections14

One day one of our teachers started to complain about tattoos, colorful hair and painted nails, in nutshell, about everything which isn't "normal". First of all, I think it was a bit rude (well, a little more than a bit) and secondly, I've started to think if school is the place which accepts differences between people. I can't say that all of the teachers are like that but  I wanted to question the whole institution. As I've noticed, students must get ready for the negative opinion from teachers if they want to show their personality. Changing something in style or body is followed by accusations of trying to show off or telling that school is not a place for looking like that. I can understand not letting people wearing shorts and tank tops but I won't understand how having nails in black can demoralize other students. I guess people my age are trying to find themselves so they'll change their styles to find the image that perfectly fits them. They don't do anything bad so why are teachers so reluctant to see their students looking differently?
