reflections#4
Last week when I was in the shopping mall I've heard mum telling her daughter to buy shoes and it will make her feel better if she let herself buy something that she didn't necessarily need. First thing that came to my mind was that we live in the world where amount of things you have determines whether you're happy or not. And does it mean that if you're poor you must have horrible all the time? That's sick how much attention our society attach to having, not being. That's horrible that to be considered as successful you need to have the newest smartphone, expensive clothes, huge apartament, etc. People can't believe you're lucky if you live frugally, not trying to fit their standards. The question we need to ask ourselves is if we really care that much about material belongings or do we prefer to see people not their stuff.
The advice you overheard in the mall is truly appalling. How can spending money on something you don't need make you happier?!

to be honest I haven't thought about it that way but after a moment of thinking I'm sure you're right.
