New life for books
Guy Laramee is creating his art in many various methods. He's a composer, singer, painter, sculptor and much, much more. But let's talk about his sculptures. Guy use his impressive imagination to transform old books to wonderful piece of art. His favorite bases are old dictionaries and encyclopedias which he carves and then applies oil paintings, pastels, crayons and whatever he decides on their pages. His sculptures are usually mountian landescapes, canyons and sloping watersheds. His newest serie "desert of unknown" shows the beautiful of on the surface calm and quiet deserts. This is an interesting idea but does it matter that the base is made of books? I would be more impressed if there was a connection between the books (written word has meaning) and his work of art, e.g. if the content of the books was somehow reflected in the sculpture.
